A deep dive into the Zambian Heritage with visits to the Likumbi Lya Mize festival, a breathtaking view of the grandest waterfall on the continent, Victoria Falls, and ending with a safari at Kafue

The journey starts in Lusaka from where we will take a long drive following the day of our arrival to Livingstone.

In Livingstone we will witness the mighty Victoria Falls, considered by many the grandest waterfall on the African continent, if not on the entire globe.

After the refresh full visit at the falls and a chill cruise on the Zambezi, we will embark on the longest day drive on this trip, all the way up north to Zambezi city where the Likumbi Lya Mize festival will take place. Please embark yourself with a lot of patience for this 700km journey!

Likumbi Lya Mize, an unforgettable 5 day celebration of the Luvale people’s rich traditions. Witness the Makishi masquerades, where elaborately crafted masks and costumes bring ancestral spirits to life through dance, music, and ritual. Scheduled events at the Likumbi Lya Mize festival:

August 1: One of the busiest public days with extensive dancing, royal court activities, visitors from across Zambia
August 2: Cultural displays, speeches, traditional games and performances
August 3: Continued Makishi performances and community celebrations
August 4: Preparations for the culmination of the ceremony; final rehearsals and royal activities
August 5: Main ceremonial day featuring the largest royal procession, speeches by Senior Chief Ndungu and dignitaries, major Makishi performances, and the closing celebrations. These final-day events are traditionally the biggest attraction

After the festivities are over we will head over to Kaufe National Park in order to do a safari in one of Zambia’s best conservation centers!
